Scholarship Listing

The Foundation is pleased to provide a comprehensive scholarship listing to applicants, prospective applicants and the public. Please note in order to apply for scholarships, an applicant must follow the proper application steps. Scholarship applications submitted by bypassing required steps will be rejected and not considered.


Foundation Scholarships that Require a Separate Application

The Foundation does have donors and donor organizations who have their own application and selection process. Noted below is a list of scholarships that require external applications to be submitted by individuals who would like to be considered.

After a donor or donor organization selects their recipient(s), the name(s) of the nominee will be sent to the Foundation for award processing. Foundation administers the scholarship in order to assure that the scholarship award(s) is/are properly transferred to the College’s financial aid office. In all cases, the nominees must have a general scholarship application completed and on file.


Optimist Club of the Beaches – Selection will be made the Optimist Club of the Beaches scholarship selection committee. Qualified applicants must complete a separate “external” application in order to be considered. The Foundation’s Board of Directors determines the award amount each year. To apply for the scholarship, the donor has required that a separate application be completed – APPLICATION


Judith Buhat Hamner Endowed Scholarship – Selection will be made by the Donor with assistance from the Filipino American Association of Bay County. Qualified applicants must complete a separate “external” application in order to be considered. Preference will be given to students who are of Filipino descent and are active members (individual or family) of the Filipino American Association of Bay County; who are attending or planning to attend Gulf Coast State College or Florida State University/Panama City; and who have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. The Foundation’s Board of Directors determines the award amount each year. To apply for the scholarship, the donor has required that a separate application be completed – APPLICATION


Emerald Coast First Responders Association Scholarship – Selection will be made by the Emerald Coast First Responders Association. Qualified applicants must first complete the Donor’s application to be considered. Preference will be given to students attending Gulf Coast State College who will be participants in a first responder program and to students attending Gulf Coast who currently are employed as a first responder who will be participating in academic classes. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will determine the award amount each year. To apply for the scholarship, the donor has required that at separate application be completed – APPLICATION


Stephen Goodson Memorial Scholarship Award – Selection will be made by a Donor Representative. Qualified applicants first complete a Foundation general application and a separate application in order to be consider. Applicants must have obtained 50 or more community service hours and submit an essay (500 words or less) on the following topic: Describe what it means to serve others/their community along with an example of how the applicant has served others/their community.
