Family and Friends Create an Endowed Scholarship to Remember School Administrator
Published on June 28, 2019
Before his passing earlier this year, Johnny Campbell, a long time Bay County school administrator, set aside money from each retirement check to start a scholarship fund that would eventually help local students continue their education after high school. Today, his dream came true as his wife Ruby and his friends from the Gents, Inc. donated $20,000 to create the Johnny and Ruby Campbell Scholarship in memory of Mr. Campbell.
Mrs. Campbell, Mr. Ken Phillips and members of the Gents, Inc. presented a check to Lori Eldridge, the Foundation's Donor and Alumni Relations Director today at Gulf Coast State College. Mr. Campbell was a founding member of the Gents, Inc., a community organization that has awarded scholarships to students since 1968.
The endowed scholarship will be held in perpetuity with the Foundation and will help one student each year continue their education at Gulf Coast State College.
