Foundation Awards Mini-Grants to GCSC Employees

Dr. Martha Ruder, Associate Degree Nursing Program Coordinator, was awarded a GCSC Foundation mini-grant for the project “Facilitating Nursing Students’ Success.” It incorporates a structured & cohesive approach to facilitate clinical reasoning and decision making skills, to better prepare students for the new licensure exam. #GulfCoastStateCollege Gulf Coast State College Foundation

Kris Hatcher, Financial Aid Director, was awarded a GCSC Foundation mini-grant for an artificial intelligence chatbot called “The Commodore.” It delivers human-style, natural answers to questions from visitors of GCSC’s web pages in a cost-effective and scalable manner. Dr. Emmanuel Hernandez, Associate Professor & Entrepreneur Program Manager, received a GCSC Foundation mini-grant for the project “Whiteboard Ideas,” an educational platform that allows students to fundraise money for STEM projects and ideas while providing entrepreneurial training. Carrie Fioramonti, Assistant Biology Professor, received a GCSC Foundation mini-grant for a “Biology Department Greenhouse” to provide a space for living specimen storage and experimentation.
